| Surprisingly effective | This was the first press I bought for reloading, mostly since it's very inexpensive and I wanted to gain some experience before buying a more elaborate and expensive press. I have since purchased a full size press, but have not used it yet because this little hand press is so useful! I load 300 Ultra Mag; this press has the strength to decap and necksize (I have not full-length sized yet), and has the clearance to load VLD bullets in my long Ultra Mag brass. Because it is small it offers very nice feel while sizing or loading, but is still strong enough that I destroyed two pieces of brass that I hadn't lubed properly! Obviously it's very portable if that's a feature you need.
The only drawback to this press is speed. Obviously it can only hold one tool at a time, which isn't a major deal because a lot of bench mount presses only hold one. But, this press requires two hands to use, and I have found it easiest to use while sitting so you can hold it between your legs as kind of a "third" arm. If you need to churn out 500 rounds in a sitting, I don't need to tell you this press will be too slow. But if you only need to load small numbers, and you want to do it carefully and inexpensively, this press will serve you well. ; | | | Rating | | | Total Votes | 0 | | Helpful Votes | 0 | | Date | 2008-12-18 |
