→ | What is the most widely used GLOCK pistol in federal agencies? |
| | By Yahoo Answers | | 2006-10-25 23:27:47 | | I have shot both the GLOCK 22 and 23 and love them both. I really like the compact 23 but I only know of the FBI giving their agents the choice between the 22 and 23. I was wondering, does the DEA or USM give you a choice between the two as well or do they only give their agents 22s (or other pistols)? I want to get a GLOCK that is used most by many different federal agencies so that when I get into basic training (in either the FBI, DEA, or USM,) I will be familar with the pistol I am given. Would the 22 be a better choice? | | Answered By: Oldragon | |

This eliminates the liablity for "negligent discharge by being cocked and having a hair-trigger" lawsuits, since the GLOCK cannot be manually cocked (being as it has no hammer: it is stricker-fired, the striker being partially cocked by the movement of the slide, and the remainder by pulling the trigger).
Other reasons are the out-of the box reliability of the weapon, and the ease of maintanence.
Your question though, was *which* GLOCK is most used. At one time the answer would have been the model 17, when hi-cap 9x19mm weapons were in vogue.... Right now I'd say the model 22 over the model 23, simply because uniformed officers carry their pistols on the duty belt, and the better concealment qualities of the slightly smaller M23 have no advantage.
You've had some good advice here about getting formal training. Easier to learn it right first than to have to unlearn and relearn later. |

I also suggest that if you have not been through a formal firearms trainning (concealed carry class does not count) Don't shoot much or worry about getting ready for trainning. Let whoever hires you, teach you the proper way to shoot. They always say it's easier to teach a new shooter how to shoot right than an old shooter to forget how they shot before, then retrain them to shoot right. | | | | User: glock509 | | the 22 is the most issued now.best thing is to get the one that fits your hand and you shoot the best.
