for all-around use...

Totally personal preference on that one. Both are extremely popular, massively produced, and widely used pistols. The CZ-75 has been one of the most popular police sidearms in much of Europe, the Glock over here (though usually in .40SW). The Glock is an ultra simple design, it has a slide stop and no other controls, no manual safety, decocker, nothing of the sort. If a round is in the chamber just pull the trigger to fire. The Glock 17 is a great weapon for the range or carrying. The CZ75 is a classic, very accurate due to the slide riding inside the rails, reliable, etc. If you're looking for a range gun you can't go wrong with either. For carrying, the same if you want a full sized pistol. For a question like this, nobody can give you a definitive answer if they know what they're talking about. Both pistols have been produced in the millions and have proven themselves many times over. You have to try them out and decide which one you like.

I own both, I prefer the CZ simply because it's a heavier pistol, and has an external safety, they both shoot great, are reliable and accurate.

That is a "paper or plastic?" question (ha ha). I have owned and traded both and I regret trading my CZ-75B SA (single-action only) 9mm. It had some annoying "B" model safety features, but then again also own a Kimber Custom II. For all around use I have to side with the CZ due to it's weight, accuracy, and comfortable trigger. Glocks are good if you are going to shoot a gazillion rounds or want to completely clean a gun in less than 30 minutes. The Glock is one of the best pistols in the world, but only a a defense weapon.

I am going to have to side with the glock 17. It wipes the cz-75 off the map for all around use. With maritime spring cups installed the glock 17 can even fire under water http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YlXql_OLzzQ . If you look at the torture tests glocks always function flawlessly under extreme conditions and you can change any part or modify them by yourself without a gunsmith very fast and cheap. Glocks are very accurate and reliable I compete with two (g35 and a g22 race gun) and if you don't like something about it you can change it. There's only 34 parts to the entire gun. So many aftermarket parts are available you can make them into monster target or race guns then turn them back to extreme combat guns in minutes there's nothing to them mine shoots great. Even if you don't like the trigger you can fix that. They are endless amounts of glock tricks out there and they're so easy to work on. But the CZ is also a very nice gun for the price it has a decent stock trigger and shoots very well. What is really most important is what feels better in your hands cause that's what you are going to shoot the best with. For me I would choose the glock. Good luck with your purchase.
