What handgun is best Glock 17/19 or Beretta 9mm?

If any Glock was the least bit inaccurate, or the Itralian so much better, why would all the Cop Shops and foreign military be buying up so many of them?! ! !Priced a new Glock, lately? ! As I already own H-K's and Glock's I know little about Berettas, SIG's, or Springfields, except that, unlike Glocks, XD magazines CAN'T be extended. If you live in one of the Hoplophobe States like NY NJ or CA, you can't own or use mags with more than ten rnd. capacity, with ANY of them, anyway. Especially in the case of the unproven S&W & XD, I'd reconsider my choice, doubly so with the recent news that the DOD is considering dumping the Itralian 'krunchenticker', the M-9, and H-K & Glock are front-runners as its' replacement!

I really like something larger than a 9. A 10 or .40 will do a better job. I lke an external hammer and a positive safety, things the Glock does not have. However, I do own several Glocks so I like them okay.

I would go with the 9, but its really just personal choice and what you feel comfortable with.

I own a Glock 17 and a Beretta 92FS, both 9mm. I like the accuracy of the Glock, I like the Beretta for it's features. Beretta is heavier, Glock has no external safety, Beretta has a longer sight radius, Glock has more ammo capacity, loaded chamber indicator on beretta is a great feature, Glock is damn near bullet proof, it will fire when dirty, wet, cold, hot, half froze, dirty ammo, sand, etc etc, Beretta will safely single feed fire with no magazine, it's designed to do it! (Look it up)

I've got both and I'll sell the Beretta but I won't sell the Glock. I want a 9mm but I'm not happy with the build quality or the mechanical complexity of the 92FS. I especially dislike the external connector and the ease with which the gun gan be dismantled by a knowledgeable assailant who gets a hand on it (right hand over the slide, thumb presses catch, fingers rotate catch down, pull slide off. Unlikely, but stupid). I don't like the way the separate and complex lock engages into notches which half the thickness of the slide. The Glock does not share either of these weaknesses. I have the 9mm for cheap practice, I'll stick with the 10mm and 45ACP for serious uses. I'll probably replace the 92FS with either a Browning High Power or a Sig of some sort.

I do not like Glock. I am a Springfield XD kinda guy. They look better than the Glock and have an added grip safety. I like how they feel in my hand too. I also love my Beretta, so between the Glock and Beretta, I would say the Beretta. Again safety features and I shoot better with it. My buddy owns a glock and I just do not like how it fits in my hand.

The Glock is the easiest to use and shoot, no safety means no mistakes (use gun safety rules number one and two) I own a 19 and wouldn't trade it for anything except maybe a GLock 23 (compact .40 S&W).

the best handgun for one person may be the worst for another. u have to choose on ur own... what fit ur hands, ur budget and ur purpose determines what's best. i own a 9mm. and i thnk it is a great gun. but i tried a .45 then i thnk it is alot better but it doesnt mean that the 9mm is not reliable. if i were u. id get a .45... its a great all around gun. take sig p245. for a 9mm get a cz-p01

I like the Glock best as a modern semi-automatic pistol. I've owned a number of Berettas (.32s, .380s, .9mm) and just like the Glock better. It is user friendly, high capacity, accurate, reliable and just fits my hand better. Best. H

I own both the Glock 17 and 19 and I do not own the Beretta. I also own a Sig Sauer P226 (which is my favorite 9mm) It's a personal matter of preference, as I know a lot of people do not like the feel of the Glock pistols. Personally, I chose the Sig Sauer P226 over the Beretta because I do not like the double-action trigger pull on the Beretta.

I know a lot of guys that had to carry Beretta's in the military. They ALL said they would have preferred GLOCKs. There are many reports of Beretta's in Iraq jamming due to the sand monkeying with them. I've seen GLOCKs dropped in sand, mud, you name it, and still did not jam. A gun writer went over to Iraq carrying his personal G17, and soldiers were actually trying to buy it from him. That says a lot. Beretta's are good pistols with a good reputation, but GLOCKs are far and away more reliable. They are also much more corrosion resistant than Beretta's.

the glock 17 is the standard by which all tough combat pistols are judged, the beretta 92F will work but requires a lot of lube and maitenece

Both are "good" but the Glock can take more of a beating you can shoot the nastiest 9mm ammo that a pistol can handle and your glock will handle it just fine while you can't shoot lead out of a glock you can if you get a different barrel (but its pretty hard to find 9mm all lead rounds even if you look for them) the Beretta is probably the easiest to shoot of the 3 the trigger pull of a Glock is one of the worst in the world i think a cap gun has a better trigger pull My vote is for the glock 17
