by Yahoo Answers: | → | →Which is better, a Glock 26, a Glock 19, or a Glock 17? | | 2008-01-23 23:48:10 | | I'm thinking about buying a gun to protect myself. I'm not a gun guy. | | Answered By: H
| | Since you are not a gun guy take the safety course first. If available in your State also get your CCW permit. Of the three (all excellent choices) the Glock Model 19 is most practical size-wise as it is between the full-size 17 & sub-compact 26. With Glock always remember: 1. Keep your finger outta the trigger guard until you are ready to shoot; 2. Store or carry in a holster that covers the trigger; 3. Never throw in cluttered drawer, purse or the like shell-in-chamber trigger exposed.
Good luck and congrates on taking responsibility for protecting yourself. In this day and age we all need to do this.

| → | →What handgun is best Glock 17/19 or Beretta 9mm? | | 2007-08-16 19:53:58 | | | Answered By: Grizzly II | |
| | If any Glock was the least bit inaccurate, or the Itralian so much better, why would all the Cop Shops and foreign military be buying up so many of them?! ! !Priced a new Glock, lately? !
As I already own H-K's and Glock's I know little about Berettas, SIG's, or Springfields, except that, unlike Glocks, XD magazines CAN'T be extended. If you live in one of the Hoplophobe States like NY NJ or CA, you can't own or use mags with more than ten rnd. capacity, with ANY of them, anyway.
Especially in the case of the unproven S&W & XD, I'd reconsider my choice, doubly so with the recent news that the DOD is considering dumping the Itralian 'krunchenticker', the M-9, and H-K & Glock are front-runners as its' replacement!

| → | →can a lasermax internal laser for a glock 17 work in a glock 19? | | 2007-01-19 14:10:14 | | | Answered By: Christopher H | |
| | I don't think so. The 19 has a longer barrel and the Lasermax unit replalces the guide rod. I don't believe it will fit in with the shorter barrel.
The Glock 17 has a barrel length of 4.49" while the Glock 19 has a barrel length of 4.02". I am assuming that the Lasermax unit would be the same lenght of a full lenght guide rod and therefore would be about half an inch too long.
| → | →S&W 410S, Sig 226, Glock 17, ruger p95, or HK p-10? | | 2007-09-03 15:06:28 | | obviously price range is not an issue for me.I'm in a cross between these pistols. I've done my research but still cant decide so i'm mainly looking for ppl with experience with each one. What are the ups and downs of each one? Which one would you reccomend for carry. Weight and size is also not an issue for me. I'm also open to new suggestions.
I want more details on the sig. If they are too expensive why does our government use them? | | Answered By: waterfowlwidowmaker
| | If I were you, I would go with the Sig or the Glock.
I personally prefer the Sig. With the DA/SA trigger action you don't have to worry with a safety. Simply push the decock lever and it safely drops the hammer. When you pull the weapon to fire you have a long 10lb pull on the first shot. All subsequent shots are 4.5lbs until you push the decock lever and drop the hammer again.
With the Glock you have a consistent trigger pull for each shot. I believe they are around 5.5 to 6.5 lbs. It has no external safety but several internal safeties that are disengaged when you pull the trigger.
The Ruger's feel a bit bulky for my hand and have an awkward thumb safety.
Metal framed pistols have less felt recoil than polymer framed pistols.
The Glock has, generally speaking, higher capacity magazines in each caliber.

| | There is really no reason you can't just pull the slide back after taking the magazine out. I have never had a problem with my G17, or any other GLOCK I've owned. | |
