It depends. If you have ankles like my mother-in-law, you can hide a cannon down there. Ankle holsters are way uncomfortable, suggest you borrow one and wear a gun there for a day. I could never do it.

Since you are not a gun guy take the safety course first. If available in your State also get your CCW permit. Of the three (all excellent choices) the Glock Model 19 is most practical size-wise as it is between the full-size 17 & sub-compact 26. With Glock always remember: 1. Keep your finger outta the trigger guard until you are ready to shoot; 2. Store or carry in a holster that covers the trigger; 3. Never throw in cluttered drawer, purse or the like shell-in-chamber trigger exposed. Good luck and congrates on taking responsibility for protecting yourself. The answer is yes yes yes yes yessssss. They're all wrong, everything is the same in both guns except the mag which will still work for 9mms decently all you need to do is replace the barrel with a 9mm conversion barrel. You cannot use the 9mm factory barrel because hole at the muzzle end of the slide is cut for a .40. I have done it with a glock 22 and a glock 35 both 40's. Too hard to find in the paper I'd bet... I would like something a little distinctive so I'd appreciate the weapon more. To the people who are so worried about guns... I agree that some people with guns make me nervous but if criminals are able to put someone such as myself at such a dissadvantage then it is my feeling we should have the ability to feel we are well defended with a gun or two. I for one am not looking to overthrow the government or anything.

The OD colored Glocks are just not popular for civilians. Your dealer may have to special order it for you.

I would say the best is an H&K or Sig Sauer. However, Glock is probably the best for the money. Where I live in NC, I bought the Glock Model 23. Is is the compact model .40 caliber. I paid $479 and got a case, 2 clips, etc. I then bought an additional .357 Sig barrel (for model 32) and just dropped it in. No need to change clips, springs, or anything. It's like having 2 guns for about $600. I can now shoot .40 caliber and .357 Sig. I believe you can do the same thing with a .40 caliber Glock subcompat .40 caliber or .357 sig, but the barrel swith is not an option on the 9mm. My opinion is Glock is the way to go because of this feature and the fact so many law enforcement officers use Glock. My friend has the subcompact 9mm and loves it. Buy the extension clip with the subcompact, so that you have some place for your pinky.
