Glock-17 Review.

Built on Glocks Full Size Frame the 17 is an easy to handle gun. You can get 17 rd magazines to fit so you have the capacity. Great for home defense and range practice. Because of price, I am a fan of the 9mm, even though the stopping power is reduced over the larger calibers.

The Good:Good range/home defense gun
The Bad:too large to carry. shorter trigger reach is nice for the size of my hands.
In a Nutshell:Great gun. Get it and you will end up putting a lot of rounds through it.

Glock-17 Review.

This gun is tough. Countless +P rounds and this gun never complained. for me, the feel of the G17 is the best in the 9mm lineup. Though not recommended, this gun can take a lot of rounds before cleaning is necessary.

Advice on selling my Glock .22 conv. kit?

Those of you from the VIP lounge know that I'm selling my Glock .22 LR conversion kit. Basically, it's the Advantage Arms .22 LR conversion kit for Glock 17/22/etc and has less than 500 rounds through it, original accessories included. I've been offering it for $200 delivered.

I received an offer over at AR15.com, someone offered me $175 delivered for it.

I've been trying to sell this for a few weeks now, do you think I should accept the offer, meet him in the middle, or continue to hold out for $200 from someone else?

? for instructors

I am doing some instructing of NRA First Steps/Pistol at a local resort.  Small groups, usually a husband/wife or parent/child group; occassionally a family.  Because it is sort of an adjunct resort activity that the guests did not anticipate, I provide all guns that are used.

I try to have a reasonable enough variety that the guests can try a number of styles and calibers.  Right now they use a couple of .22 pistols (the Neos and S&W 22A); a Glock 19 and Glock 17 (for 9mm); a S&W revolver that does either .357mag or .38sp (and I just added another .38sp revolver).  I am contemplating getting one more (OK, sure, it is for me,  but I need some rationale!)

I am thinking towards either a Beretta 92 (so I can comment on some differences in design vis-a-vis the Glock, and also it is the service pistol now for many); or, perhaps a .45...something in a different caliber than what I have; to that end I am looking at a Glock 21, or perhaps a mil-spec 1911 of some type for the history etc. (I'll replace the G21 anyway regardless of this decision.)

What are some of the forum member thoughts on the new addition...another 9mm like the Beretta 92 (or the Taurus pt92), or some type of .45acp?

Bowling Pin Shoot

Our range had a bowling pin shoot today and I went, but due to a bunch of circumstances I was unable to shoot myself, but was great fun to watch.  Although it was quite informaal, I gather that there are some rules.

Is there a rule that says the maximum number of rounds you can have in a magazine if the round being shot is for semi-auto centerfire guns? I did not see anyone  use more than 8 rounds in a magazine.

In the for-what-it-is-worth category, there were about 20 shooters.  The most common .22 was Ruger, then Buckmark.  The most common revolver was the SW 686, with most shooting .38SP rather than .357mag.  The most common semi-automatic centerfire guns were variations on the 1911. One person had a Glock of the 20+ shooters. (It was a Glock 17  with red dot optic).  Most of the .22 shooters had optics...and more pricey than my $30 Simmons red dot :)

In the semi-auto/centerfire rounds, each and every shooter except two had numerous multiple failures with their guns.  The only two that didn't were (a) the Glock'er (no surprise there) and (b) a fairly new S&W 1911.

Fastest time any single shooter cleared 5 pins was about 4 seconds. Fastest time a team of two cleared 9 pins was about the same.  Typical times if the pins fell off the table were more like 10-15 seconds, and if not off the table, even 45+ seconds (to a minute) were not uncommon.  I gather that although this seems fast to me, it is not enough to write home about!  Apparently there is a father - son team that comes from time to time that can drop all 9 pins in about 2.5 seconds shooting .22  with optics.

The next pin shoot is not until August here, so I will give it a try then.  One intimidating thing was that although there were about 20 shooters, there were at least 100 guns...many brought many to try.  Almost everyone there offered to let me shoot their guns.

One lady, in her 60's, had never shot a .45 before. She decides to try a WWII issue 1911 model and in her first run she got all five pins in 6 seconds. That was amazing considering she had never shot that much recoil before nor that gun before. I was on my best behavior with her all day:)

My task was scorekeeper for a while...(I am having Home Depot problems and had to make two trips to the store during the shoot...I hate when that happens.)

In any event, 'twas fun.

Where can I find 15 round 9mm magazines that are interchangeable for the Glock 17 and 19?

I'm researching prices for 15 round 9 mm magazines. The solicitation I would like to bid on calls for them to fit 'Glock 17/19'. The only ones I can find are for the Glock 19. Do you think there is a misprint
