The GLOCK 29 is a subcompact version of the full-size model 20. A 10mm Auto with the now mandatory ten-round magazine, the GLOCK 29 is just slightly larger than the GLOCK 19. The GLOCK 29 is an ideal gun for those who want plenty of power, yet want it in a smaller package. The GLOCK 29 will prove especially useful to the discreet backpacker walking the wilds of the mountain ranges, or the armed professional patrolling the concrete canyons of today's urban terrain.

I am going to get a glock in 10mm, Does anyone recommend model 29? any info anyone can give me would be great???

I second the recommendation of getting the full sized glock 20 rather than the 29 Also, to the "sniper" "I would recommend any glock but id personally get a larger caliber such as a .40 or .45" You realize the 10mm has more energy at 100 yards than the 45 acp has at the muzzle, right? You also realize that the 10mm was adopted by the FBI, but too many agents couldn't handle it, so it was downloaded for a while, then some smart folks decided to just cut the case down shorter and have a smaller round, they called it the 40 S&W. So the 40 is just a 10mm short girly men! Those in the know call it the 40 Short and Weak Now, I am not disparaging the 40, I like it fine. I am just saying that the whole concept of "you need something more potent than the 10mm, like a 40 S&W" is just plain backwards and solidly wrong.
  • →Does anyone have any experiance with the Glock 29 10mm?

I am considering buying a 10mm for self defense, and one than caught my eye was the Glock 29 subcompact handgun... I was wondering if anyone has had any experiance, good or bad, with it? Thanks for the input, but I have a pretty extensive experiance with guns of all types... I am mostly looking for someone who has specific experiance with the Glock 29... mainly its concealability and its dependability. I have what may be a misconception that compact firearms have more problems associated with them.

Altho i dont own a G29 I have shot more than my fair share of them. With a magazine extender my little finger doesn't go under the magazine, it rests on the grip like it should, if you have large hands I would recommend you get magazine extenders. There's several aftermarket recoil buffers, I recommend one of those too, the plunger style seems to work the best.Crimson Trace makes a great, grip mounted laser for these pistols, for a defensive weapon you can't beat the Crimson trace for super fast target acquisition. You may want to augment the Crimson Trace with some aftermarket night sights(Mepro-lites, Trijicon etcetc). The G29's I've shot have ALL had heavy recoil, regardless of the grain weight of the bullet, hence the reason to install a plunger recoil buffer. At 25 yards they all shoot in the black, one I shot had an aftermarket barrel, I think it was a Lone wolf, regardless, it cost less than 100 dollars and needed no fitting, at 25 yards it shot about 2moa using a rest, at 50 yards shooting offhand it gave all shots in the black. I know it sounds like you have to do a lot of aftermarket upgrades on the G29 to make them shoot good, this isn't really the case, one right out of the box will serve you just fine as a defensive weapon, the upgrades simply make it the perfect defensive pistol.
  • →Have you ever heard of a person carrying a Glock 29 (subcompact in 10mm auto)?
    2007-03-30 19:59:49
I was wondering about this. I've fired a Delta Elite in 10mm and it kicks pretty hard, I couldn't imagine using it very effectively in rapid follow-up shots. I've never fired a 29, but I can imagine it beating the hell out of your hand. Has anyone ever fired one of these or heard of someone carrying one? I can't figure out why they designed a subcompact in this calibre, but obviously some people must buy it. I just can't see it being very effective.

10mm can kick, but some folks have the hand strength and more importantly, technique to handle it effectively. You can't shoot as fast as a 9mm or even a 1911 .45, but if you can shoot straight, shooting fast is a moot skill.
  • →glock 31 glock 29 which is more powerfull?
    2007-04-28 23:57:26
do one of them have a firepower edge or does the 10mm work just as powerfull on both
    Answered By: erehwon
10mm Auto (29) - a bit larger bullet moving at a fast speed equals a bit more energy 357 Sig (31)- a smaller bullet moving just a fast, but with a little less energy...but capable of holding more rounds. I think they are both good...bottom line if you do not hit what you are aimimg for it really does not matter what cartridge you are using. Focus on being a better marksman than having a more powerful gun.
  • →What do you think of the Glock 29 as a sidearm during hunting trips?
    2008-03-13 00:55:26
I figurd 200gr 10mm ought to be enough for defensive purposes...

Yeah, that would probably stop a mountain lion and wolf quite quickly. That would also be the best autoloader cartridge for grizzly bears, but shooting at them is a risky proposition from what I've heard and read. Seems that if you don't kill them in one shot, then they'll get quite angry and become so very lethal, themselves. If you do get that sub compact, though, you'll need extensive practice with it. The full size (Glock 20) would certainly be more manageable to use, and doesn't weigh much more than the subcompact (Glock 29).

It takes a real idiot to think you can use a Glock for hunting.... or someone who is doing some kind of survival thingy.
