Andy I wonder if anyone here has seen Bowlin For Columbine. Very good film, watched it for the second time last night. Beign English, I find it quite amusing to see the media reactions to tragedies in the US, and also how some citizens seem to think that they do not only have the right to own firearms but also that it is a responsibility. This would imply that being unable to purchase a gun to "protect my family" I am irresponsible. But I pose the question - what are you trying to protect yourselves from? Your enemies? Strangers? Your neighbours? Your *friends*??? We have very few guns over here, and no need for them. What I don't see is why people in the US seem to think they do. To think you have the "right" to be able to maim or kill another citizen of your country seems by all rights to be insane. 8/24/2003 8:26:03 AM

Erry Individual people have the right to be armed: To be armed is to have the final voice in politics. Even though our form of free self-government seems secure and there is no imminent foreign threat of invasion, the people deserve the right to defend themselves against tyranny, either homegrown or from abroad. If the government turns tyrannical or invaders come, the people are the ones who suffer, therefore the people have this individual right. 7/14/2003 9:49:20 PM

Manchu All government officials raise their right hand and take an oath, swearing that they will uphold and protect laws of the United States, of which the Constitution is the very base. It appears crystal clear to me that they are derelicting their duties, therefore need to be prosecuted. What we have been witnessing the government commit for the last 40-years is the exactly what the 2d Amendment is for. "De Oppresso Liber" 1/31/2003 9:18:21 PM
spiela2003 south african goverment try to take guns away form citizens who have bought guns and have valid licenses for those guns. it makes it easier for the criminals (south africa have highest crime rate in world) to murder, rape, and steal from the law abiding citizens of south africa. what are they trying to do? why do they want to dis-arm us? what is the goverment's secret agenda? is it not enough that they are killing the white farmers like flies why they sit with folded arms? or are we on the road like zimbabwe? send comments to spiela2003@yahoo.com 1/24/2003 7:25:17 AM
Larry J Ricklefs What do you expect from the whacky Left Coast? Those of us in Alaska don't stand a chance against the Ninth Circuit Charade. 1/20/2003 8:30:40 PM
ed The US constitution is written in plain english. It is not difficult to intrepret. We need to replace judges who think we cannot read or reason. 1/20/2003 4:55:22 PM
Scott Huska Fascinating isn't it?. The individuals who whish to completly controll everything just will not stop will they? Well judge, we do have the right to bear arms and you can not change that. Bet you would just love to get rid of that pesky 2nd Ammendment, wouldn't you? I am the proud woner of a Mossberg shotgun, and if you want it you are going to have to pry it out of my cold dead hands. The Government does not have the right to Dictate how the individual will live his life. In fact when the Government was set up it's only powers that were granted to it by the governing bodies of the 13 Colonies was to regulate fair commerce trade between the States, and to maintain armed forces to protect the States against military invasion from foreign powers. Also, at the time their was no industrial complex in existance in this country. The great vast majority of the population lived in the country, and the only way people had to get food was to raise it and kill it. You did not go down to Cub Foods or Rainbow Foods or any other grocerie store to get your meat because there were no grocerie stores. You got meat by killing it with your bow or your gun. Gun control was already starting to become an issue in Europe, and this is one of the reasons why Congress created the 2nd Ammendment, to insure the individuals' right to bear arms as this would also ensure his ability to protect himself and provide for his family. History bears out in great detail that when the citizens allow the government to take their guns away, the government then proceeds to abuse the citizenry of that country. Recent proof-Bosnia 1995. The mass killings and civil war that started there and that was basically ended by us was precipitated by a massive gun ban instituted by the gvernment of that country. As soon as the citizenry turned in their guns, Milichovich started massacring them. And in this country- Ruby Ridge and Waco. Those tragedies could have been completely avoided, but they had some guns and the Government did not want them to have them, so people had to die for it. Besides, if you ban guns, only the law abiding citizens are going to turn them in. The criminals will not. In fact, armed crimes will surge dramatically if guns are banned. Don't believe me? It happened in Britain. Guns were banned their, and armed crimes jumped 300 percent in the following year becaus the crooks knew the victims would not be armed because they were gullibly obeying the law. 1/15/2003 12:54:38 AM
