Jon E. It goes the complete opposite from the 5th Circuit Ruling on 10 Oct 2001 that gun ownership IS a constitutional right 12/15/2002 2:04:18 PM
Ed This is crazy! I think the judge is way too extreme. 12/15/2002 12:36:19 PM
twodoggs87 I feel that the right to bear arms is a need we all address. what keeps a person intent on commiting a violent act at bay? A person should the right to protect his/her self and family from permanent damage or death? Some say thats what the police are for. As a former law enforcement officer I know that help from the police could be minutes or even longer away, should a person even be able to get to a phone. Alot can happen in just seconds, who's to say what will transpire in minutes or more. a person should have the right to bear arms for their personal protection for who can say if the police will arrive in time to prevent a tregedy from occuring. 3/9/2004 8:29:13 PM
T.R. The @nd Amendment was written long before the thoughts of the National Guard. The Citizens of each state were the ones who when capable to go and fight to protecet themselves and their state. The Founders knew that if the citizens were armed that it would keep the politians in their place. We have let the politians become the bosses,it is time to remind them of that fact. 11/10/2003 11:01:04 PM
wanna-b Glock food 4 thought, I'm 4 USA, Pro military, Pro- Bush and Pro Jesus... #1 The constitution is for the people to regulate the government and not just the government to regulate the people... So why are the courts & Commons making the decisions??? #2 Why don't 'We the People', American Citizens, submit a letter to the President of the United States of America and say (for example) that on January 1,2006 we are claiming our complete rights back. Give them a nicely written letter signed by millions stating "What & How" our constitutional rights are to be understood and interpreted. Including things like, "ARMS" means weapons and not just Firearms, also this right shouldn't be limited to barrel, stock or overall length, and/or - caliber - or bore size. This includes but isn't limited to: silencers, mortars, artillery, machineguns and explosives & pyrotechnics. Granted WMD (weapons of mass destruction) are totally out of the question such as NBCs and the like. If we stand "United", the politicians would have to except it, 'they can't throw us all in jail!'. 10/22/2003 11:30:08 PM
Bob having read the comment from andy, I had to respond. appairently you haven't been paying attention to the news from your homeland. your crime rate is going up, and the rate at which it is going up has increased since the powers that be banned private ownership of firearms. the point that needs to be made is that the constabulary cannot protect you or anyone else at all times and at all locations. since that is true, it is up to you to protect yourself. finally, we are an armed citizenry because the founders of this country recognized that a government will eventually cease to recognize the rights of a citizenry that does not have in it's grasp the ability to fight for those rights! 10/22/2003 10:11:15 AM
mustang I live in a neighborhood where almost all of my immediate neighbors and friends have guns. I dont lock my door or my garage. Everyone knows who has the guns in town. They know better than to mess around in our neighborhood. That piece of mind means alot to me and my family. 1/14/2004 12:29:06 PM
Charles Richardson Guns don't kill people, people kill people. Wken they come to take my weapons, I will give them up, when they turn their back, I'll take them back. In spades. 12/19/2003 5:15:36 AM
Mark To strip someone of the means to protect himself, and his family is what is Insane to me 11/18/2003 9:25:47 PM
