I was issued a Glock 23 since 1997. Its design is simple, and it works reliably in all weather conditions. It functions without failure with rain, dirt, and lints, yep plenty of lints. The 40 cal ammo is a good balance between 9mm and 45. It has the accuracy of 9mm and yet powerful enough to penetrate through windshields. Good defensive weapon.

The G23 is a superb medium frame gun. While 13 round pre ban magazines can be found, they are quite expensive. One of the reasons I first got my G23 was the fact that I could get 10 round magazines and not be limiting myself too much by not having the 13rd ones.
The G23 like all Glocks is well made and as accurate as one could expect from a factory run production pistol. My G23 will consistently shoot 3" groups at 25 yards. This IMO is more than exceptable.
The fact that this gun comes in .40 caliber is a great boon to those of us who believe that all serious defensive pistols should be at least a .4 caliber or better.
Over all I rate the G23 as one of my favorite if not my most favorite defensive handguns.

the glock 23 is awesome i love it but for those that dont like glocks for some reason or want to try something else i really like my kimber ultra carry for well carring. just because it is so slim but youll never bet the glocks dependability it will always fire when you need it the kimber dosent seem to like cheap ammo unless i have a feeding problem which could be possible one of my mags is messed up i like them both but if i could only have one handgun you bet your ass id be a glock

The guy that has never shot a glock said that it would jam within 500 rounds is a moron i have 5 with all over 2000 rounds through them not one jam even with cheap ammo. for all around my fav is the 23 the 27 is great if you carry all the time

new buyer... pick which ever feels right, they are both good guns (I have both), and both take a little practice, but I can put up identical groups with my USP40compact, and my 23c. The USP is a little heavier, and the 23 is compinsated. the HK feels better to me, but I like the price and no nonsense of the glock. I will probably carry CCW the glock, but I will always have a warm fuzzy for the HK.

I love it. The 23 is the best gun ever made. Ive got 500 RDS on it and no jams. Head shots at 20 yards.Not a target gun , But thats not why I got one. Im in the security biz. Ive had them all. I may like other guns , But I will always have a G23.
